WW: Social Networking Sites

Written By: Jane E. on September 9, 2008 7 Comments

Hi everyone! I decided to do a list of networking sites today. I’ve joined a bunch of them; some work for me, some I just can’t seem to get into. A couple of them I’ve just discovered. They’re great tools in getting your name out and they’re fun too!

1. TWITTER–I love Twitter. It’s very easy to use, and you don’t have to devote a lot of time to it. If you join, or have already joined, feel free to add me :)

*

2. ORKUT–I just signed up with this one, and already I like it! Owned by Google, it seems to be another site I’m going to be spending way to much time visiting.

*

3. JAIKU–Jaiku is a micro-blogging and lifestreaming service similar to Twitter. It is owned by Google. You can post Jaikus, add icons, customize your design, share your Web feeds, follow friends, text Jaikus from your phone, etc. As far as I can tell, you have to request an invite. You can do that here.

*

4. Gossipreport.com–For those who love gossip, this is the place to be! From the site: On GossipReport.com you can anonymously talk about anyone you want. Instead of creating a profile about yourself, you can create a profile about someone else. Get in the loop. Go Gossip!

*

5. KAIOO–Killerstartups.com says: Kaioo.com is a social network that gives all of their profit to charities. At Kaioo.com you can create a profile, upload images and videos, meet new people and express yourself. Kaioo.com is like any other social network except at the end of the year 10 charities receive the advertising money from the network.

6. SOCIALGO–This one is fabulous. Pam and I are just figuring this one out. Join us!

*

7. BEBO–Bebo is a social media network where friends share their lives and explore great entertainment.

*

8. LIFEKNOT–Wikipedia says: Lifeknot is a social networking website with a focus on shared interests and hobbies. I haven’t signed up with this one yet, but it looks interesting.

*

9. LINKEDIN–LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site

*

10. NING–Wikipedia says: Ning hopes to compete with large social sites like MySpace and Facebook, by appealing to users who want to create networks around specific interests or have limited technical skills. The unique feature of Ning is that anyone can create their own custom social network for a particular topic or need, catering to specific audiences. I’m off to join!

I left out the hugely popular MySpace, Facebook, and other such sites, because everyone already knows about them. I hope you’ll find today’s post useful! If you know of any amazing sites you’ve joined, let us know in comments. We’re always looking for new, fun ways to promote and network.

consider joining Yuwie.com. Its a social networking site like myspace, but they actually pay you to do things you normal do on myspace. You can get some solid income as well as network with lots of great people.
