October News
Ah, it’s finally here. Don’t you just love Autumn with its riotous display of colorful leaves, the crisp smoky air and that wondrous feeling of anticipation?
At this time of year, the thinning veil between this world and the next brings the possibility of all kinds of mischief and magic. We hope to bring you a little magic this month with the following planned events:
I’ll be interviewing one of my favorite authors of spine-tingling thrillers, Anne Frasier! She’s offered to give away one of her riveting books so stay tuned for posting date information.
Jane will be interviewing author Daisy Dexter Dobbs on Tuesday, October 7th. Daisy is so much fun, I know you won’t want to miss that!
Jane also has an interview scheduled with author Imogen Howson, whose helpful advice on “passive voice” is featured on our Tipbits page. Please stay tuned for the posting date.
Beta Babe is featuring paranormal/urban fantasy romance in her October book reviews. We’d love to hear what YOU think about the books she reviews so let your voice be heard in the comment section of her posts.
We are holding a writing contest this month and you don’t need to be a writer to enter. What the heck am I talking about, you ask? Well, we Texty ladies love Autumn and we’re fairly certain many of you do, too. We’d like to hear why this time of year is special for you.
Here are the rules:
Using 500 words or less, tell us in your own words what makes Autumn so special to you. It doesn’t have to be in the form of a poem, song or story but it certainly can be! Submit your entry by including it in a comment on this post. One entry per person.
The contest will run Thursday, October 2nd through Sunday, October 26th. There will be two randomly selected winners, whose names will be posted the last week of October.
The winners will each receive a gift basket filled with some of our favorite autumnal treats!
We hope you’ll enjoy the upcoming month! Drop us a line and let us know what fun things you have planned in October. :) ~ Pamela

AUTUMN
O season of ripe beauty, you I greet!
Whose heart is love’s calm wisdom at its throbbing core;
Your deep hues and myriad colors make the soul’s wings beat
And lift a lover like me to your ambrosial shore.
Through you Nature weeps its precious golden tears,
In you a mortal eye could glimpse its native Immortality,
O endless fount of inspiration to the poet-seers
To be bound by your embrace is to be truly free!
A glad earth bathes in your benign and lustrous smile
And man’s heart thrills with an unknown rapture and delight
By your whispers and footfalls and flute-call beguiled,
An ancient kinship links him to your celestial height.
A brimming of golden sweetness in your dreaming eyes
Fills the world with the beauty of a realm divine,
The sun’s last rays serenely trickle from your purple skies:
I send my love and song and call your blessings mine.

I love fall. The cool weather. Wearing jeans and sweaters again. Colors!
Your blog looks great.
I see you snagged Leigh Royals. Good for you. She’s great!
Hi, Bethanne! I love bringing out the sweaters again, too!
Thanks for the kinds words about the site. Leigh IS great and I know she’ll bring a fresh, exciting voice to the blog.
So glad you stopped by! Good luck with the Autumn contest!
What Autumn means to me…My birthday, Halloween and candy. The colorful leaves that blow across the road as Mother Nature’s wind readies itself for slumber, awaiting the new season’s growth in the Spring. Autumn is the season that starts my excitement for Christmas. The scents in the air, the decorations that fill the stores. The first snowfall. Short days and chilly nights. Thanks Giving and Feasting! Autumn is a wonderful time of year!
Thanks for the Contest!
Happy Birthday, Amanda! This time of year is a feast for the senses, isn’t it? Thanks for your contest entry!
