Sometimes you have to fight the undead with the half-dead…

From the inside cover:   Here it was, a deal with the devil.  But at what price?  He watched me expectantly and threateningly, all at the same time.  If I said no, it would be happy hour with my neck on tap.  If I said yes, I’d be agreeing to a partnership with pure evil.

From the back cover:  Flirting with the grave…

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father–the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life.  Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.

In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs.  She’s amazed she doesn’t end up as his dinner–are these actually good vampires?  Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn’t have to be all bad.  But before she can enjoy her new found status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers.  Now Cat will have to choose a side…and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Loved this book!  When I book shop, I grab a variety of books and authors to get my hands on something different.  I’m trying to broaden my horizon and read every different type of book out there!  Well, I grabbed this one not thinking much about it…well, I was wrong.  Love Jeaniene Frost’s writing, love the story, love the characters,…actually have a hugh crush on the lead vampire Bones!!! OMG!  I hope she wrote a sequel to this one…because I’ll run out and buy it…today!  A beautiful redhead with creamy white skin, Catherine Crawfield is the daughter of a vampire father and a human mother.  Her mother was date-raped by a man who was just turned into a vampire.  It takes some time for all the fluids of a newly turned vampire to dry up.  Well, the jerk dated her innocent mother and raped her.  Her mother kept her baby girl, even though the town thought she was a whore…she never told anyone about the rape, not even her parents.  Catherine, who calls herself Cat, grew up and wanted to avenge her mother by killing every vampire around.  She hoped to kill her father one day for what he did.  She grew up being the weird girl…the different one.  She had to hide her differences…her speed, strength, and her eyes that glowed green when she was mad.  She was always the outcast and hated her life.  Then, one night while out vampire hunting, she meets Bones, his real name is Crispin, she finds out later.  Bones is tall, white blond hair, creamy pearly white skin, and has an English accent.  Her description of him is yummy throughout the book.  He is a vampire who kills only evil vampires…ones who murder innocent people.  There is a group of evil vampires who he is trying to locate to eliminate.  When he finds Cat, he realizes she can get closer to them than he can…she has a heartbeat and smells like a human.  He doesn’t.  He can feel them and they can feel him when either gets near so it’s a dead giveaway.  He won the fight with Cat and makes her an offer…work with him to help eliminate the evil vampires and he’ll find out who her father is.  Cat takes the deal.  Once she gets to know Bones, she finds she’s falling for him.  It’s a wonderful love story and very, very hot!  I won’t tell you more…only that I hope the author continued this story…I’d like it to go on forever!

Because I loved this book and would recommend the read to anyone — I give this hot hot story 4 cocktails!

Oh, I believe there are two more books following this one; the third either having just come out or is being released soon. Yippee!!
