Dark Angel by Lynne Graham
Harlequin Romance
“Strong romance with sultry sensuality. Explosive scenes and provocative characters.” Romantic Times on Lynne Graham
He wanted her for love…and for revenge.
From the back cover: Knight in shining armor…or avenging angel? Five years ago Luciano de Valenza had rescued the Linwood family’s failing wine business. In the process, he’d swept young, impressionable Kerry Linwood off her feet. But shockingly, when money was embezzled from the business, Luciano had found himself convicted and imprisoned.
Now he was free, and back to clear his name. He was sure he’d been framed by the Linwoods, and he was determined to take all that was theirs. That included Kerry. Kerry–who was now convinced Luciano desired her only for the wine empire she would inherit. Kerry–who couldn’t understand that she was all he had ever really wanted…
This is a short story that packs a lot of power–a ton of emotion. The handsome dark angel in this story is our hero Luciano da Valenza. The description Lynne Graham gives of Luciano is as yummy as his name! The story starts out with Luciano getting out of prison…finally…five long years. He was set up to take the fall when money is missing from the company he works for…which is owned by the Linwood family. Now that he’s free–he wants to clear his name. He also wants the Linwood family to pay for what they did to him. His fiance, Kelly Linwood, had broken their engagement the day before he was arrested…she must have known that he was going to be arrested. He’s angry that she could do such a thing to him…when he needed her most. You wonder what was up with this Kelly person who dumps her fiance the day before he’s arrested for a crime he did not commit. She should have been there for him, believed in his innocence. Then you meet Kelly’s character. She is a really good, kind person, who would never hurt anyone on purpose. She had an entirely different reason for breaking up with Luciano…something he did had broken her heart. She could not forgive the betrayal and ended their engagement before he could hurt her even more. She loved him so much, how could he have treated her this way. Between him coming back into her life angry and her trying not to have feelings for him any more, the story keeps you reading to see what’s going to happen. You want him to find out who really did steal the money and you want her to find out the truth about his betrayal while they were engaged. There is a lot more to this story which will keep you from putting this book down.
I really enjoyed this hot, emotion filled love story. Because I will now look for more books by Lynne Graham to read–I give this story 3 cocktails!
