I waited too long for you my dear,
To give the answer you longed to hear.
You ask for my hand, so long ago
But instead saying yes, I kept saying no.
Even as my flesh has turned to dust
You’ve found no other to flake your lust.
My heart you’ll always have
Sorry, I’m not there, my bad.

Crossing geometric shapes
Over serene sloshing spume
Peaceful nature undisturbed
But marred by cross through
Enjoy the view from lofty perch
But not from down below
Step on this log and you can search
Along the verdant floe
Is it really serene or is it murky
They say still waters run deep
I see small white peaks breaking here
On land I think I’ll keep.

My toes are cold. What’s he looking at, anyway? There’s not a squirrel anywhere near here. What’s that smell . . . hey! How come that lady gets to roll in the flower bed and I don’t? People are so lucky. Check out the shoes on that guy! White sneakers! Oh, I’d love to sink my teeth into those. I bet the laces would feel sooo good between my teeth. And that squeaky rubber sound the sole makes when I hit it just right with my back teeth? Bliss! Ooo, what’s THAT smell? Steak? Steak! It is! It is! Hey, hey, over there! In that place, there’s a steak, and . . . Oh, no, what are they doing? No, no, not that pretty steak! Dammit! They did it–they put it on a fire. Ugh, now it stinks. Why do they have to ruin everything? I just really want to go home now. My toes are cold.

The velvet Vee I clearly see,
It mesmerizes and comforts me.
This busy street, with lights and a pet
A bistro or two, I saw but yet
My eye was drawn to the sky in rich hue.
I didn’t know there was such a color blue.

There once was a man named Rick
Who wanted a date to picnic
He had all the food
To get her in the mood
And kept food from the animals, this trick:

sung to the tune of Gilligan’s Island
Just sit right back and I’ll tell a tale,
A tale of convention nerds.
You see this guy in white and blue, he is one of the herd. He is one of the herd.
He dresses up, shows he is a fan, and mugs for the cam-er-as
He put this on though it is too tight.
He loves it just because. He loves it just because.
Its fun to share [with gilligan]
Your nerdiness [the skipper too]
With others of like ilk [a millionaire …]
I wonder if
that skin tight suit is made up of spun silk!

URBAN ANNE BOLEYN
Look up here, can you?
This tower is my life, it is me!
All boarded up, no ray of sun
I’m the finch who couldn’t get free.
I hide my secrets and my sadness
I’m the Urban Anne Boleyn
I prayed to the Maiden Forgiveness
But burnt myself with Sin.
I tried to live it, as it should be
The hard sun singed my pride
And in the haze of regret I see
I couldn’t breathe
A tingle on my pretty neck
Told me it was time
My era was over
I shall withdraw you from mine.
I’m the Urban Anne Boleyn
I’m always here yet never in
My heart is the tower I live
Away from you, away from sin.
